Cochrane Methods Groups have been established to develop methodology and advise The Cochrane Collaboration on how the validity and precision of systematic reviews can be improved. Methods Groups base their activities around six core functions; these are discussed in greater detail in the 'Activities' section.
The Prognosis Methods Group comprises individuals who are involved or interested in the conduct of systematic reviews of prognosis. Our role is to offer advice to review authors who would like to incorporate prognosis information into their therapeutic or diagnostic reviews and to establish appropriate and high quality methods for undertaking systematic reviews and meta-analyses of prognosis studies. Review authors are encouraged to contact the convenors for advice, ideally through their appropriate Cochrane Review Group, Methods Group, Field or Network liaison. Where possible, advice will be based on empirical evidence from research conducted by Group members or others. We are willing to help with specific Cochrane reviews and the convenors can bring appropriate authors and methodologists into direct contact should the need arise.
