Freiburg Workshop: Prognostic and predictive marker research
Challenges in design, analysis and reporting of prognostic and predictive marker research – from single studies to an EBM based assessment.
One day satellite workshop held in Freiburg after the Cochrane Colloquium on 8 October 2008.
Organisers: Willi Sauerbrei (IMBI, Freiburg), Doug Altman (CSM, Oxford)
An introduction to the Satellite workshop was provided by Willi Sauerbrei. The following presentations have been made available:
1. Doug Altman: From single studies to an EBM based assessment - some central issues
2. Karel Moons: Design and analysis of individual prognostic studies
3. Patrick Royston: Multivariable modelling of continuous markers, with extension to interactions with treatment
4. Panayiotis Kyzas: Selective reporting, quality of reporting and statistical significance chasing in prognostic marker studies
5. Marc Buyse: External validation in biomarker research: examples from gene profiling
6. Ewout Steyerberg: Assessment of performance and decision curve analysis
7. Ulrich Mansmann: High-dimensional Prognosis- Developing a gene signature from a very large number of potential predictors
8. Elia Biganzoli: High dimensional data for supporting medical decision: are we meeting the challenge?
9. Simon Thompson: Lessons from meta-analysis of observational studies in epidemiology
10. Richard Riley: The challenges of a systematic review and meta-analysis of prognosis studies
11. Martin Schumacher: Summary of main challenges and future directions
A joint paper is currently in preparation. It is intended to have a follow up workshop, at this stage in Spring 2010 in London, organised by James Carpenter and Doug Altman for the British and Irish region of the Biometric Society. On this website you will find more information as soon as it becomes available.
